A mix of old world and new, this home has given me a beautiful opportunity to work with my husband to bring to life a lot of things that were in my head. We did a ton on our own and with my contractor father. We took down a wall, removed old flooring and laid new saltillo tile.. We troweled microment in the den and used it in vertical places too like the range hood. Every time the poor guy thought we were almost done I would give him the unfortunate news that my mind had other ideas that needed to be brought to life.
The kitchen, with the humble beginnings of a tiny U-shape, now boasts soapstone countertops, a large Calacatta marble island to fit all 4 of my kids and a beautiful Ilve range. I love hosting and being able to interact with my guests while cooking dinner so opening this kitchen up to the den and dining room made perfect sense. The dining room has a fireplace which was miraculously already here (something i specifically prayed for while house hunting) and holds my 12’ table. The flow of this house fits our family so well with its two living rooms, 4 bathrooms and 4 bedrooms. The kids have their space to hang with their friends, play games and be kids and my husband and I can retreat to our perch to look at the view and connect after a long day.
